A Meditation
by John Henry Newman
God has created me to do
Him some definite service.
He has committed some work
to me which He has not
committed to another
I am a link in a chain,
a bond of connection
between persons.
He has not created me
for naught.
I shall do good
I shall do His work.

When a student gains a place at Cardinal Newman Catholic School she or he will be welcomed into a community that prides itself on its care for each individual. Our school mission statement celebrates the uniqueness of each person. We recognise the personal and academic differences within our student body and it is our goal to offer an appropriate level of support and challenge that ensures individual growth and success.
As parents you entrust your children to us and it is our task to join in a partnership with the home to raise that child in a secure environment built on Christian principles that prepares each student for the world. Sound discipline, care and support, and academic challenge are our guidelines and we are confident that your children will benefit from their time at Cardinal Newman and will be encouraged to contribute towards our further growth.

FROM THE HEAD
Public Examinations
The Year 9 SATs went extremely well last week with one of our best attendance rates. Thank you to all our students for getting to school on time and getting to the right place at the right time. Let's aim for this standard during the rest of term.
Year 11 Revision Workshops
These are well attended and there is a real sense of purpose among the student body and AS and A2 examinations are underway. Please keep our students in your thoughts and prayers. We wish them calm and peace during this important time.
INSET Day
The Government has requested that all schools take an extra INSET day during this academic year to allow for the planning of Curriculum 2008 in Years 7–9. This is planned for Monday, 30th June. No students will be in school on this day.
