A Meditation
by John Henry Newman
God has created me to do
Him some definite service.
He has committed some work
to me which He has not
committed to another
I am a link in a chain,
a bond of connection
between persons.
He has not created me
for naught.
I shall do good
I shall do His work.

"The teaching of quality design and technology in our schools is a vital requirement for the country's future in the 21st Century."
James Dyson
(inventor and manufacturer of the world's first bagless vacuum cleaner)
Design and Technology at Cardinal Newman Catholic School prepares students to participate in tomorrow's rapidly changing technologies. The subject calls for students to become autonomous and creative problem solvers, as individuals and members of teams, who must look for needs, wants and opportunities and respond to them by developing a range of ideas.
An important feature of design and technology is that it makes immediate and practical use of knowledge and skills from other subjects. It is linked with art and design, mathematics and science. Through design and technology, all students have the potential to become innovators as well as discriminating and informed users of products.

"The more I learnt about this cheeky – almost rebellious – company, the more it appealed to me, as it unapologetically pointed to an alternative in a complacent and creatively bankrupt industry. Apple stood for something and had a reason for being that wasn't just about making money."
Jonathan Ive
(Designer of the iMac, iBook and iPod, at college when he used a Mac for the first time)
