It’s Ash Wednesday as I write this and all of our students in years 7-11 have been to liturgies today to mark the start of Lent. This is always such a special time in the school, when everyone gets involved in supporting our amazing charities: Mary’s Meals, Off the Fence and Hangleton Foodbank. Students get really competitive, trying to outdo each other in the amount they raise; individually, as forms and as year groups and also in trying to win the various competitions around school. We are always grateful for any donations, however small, and for any ideas, however whacky!
But as ever, in a big bustling community such as ours, we remember those who are experiencing difficulties at the moment. Major events such as Easter can be painful for those who will be celebrating without loved ones this year and we will do whatever we can to support every member of our Newman family who needs our help.
