Chaplaincy

On one level all adults in the school are part of Chaplaincy because they all provide for the educational, emotional, physical and spiritual wellbeing of our students which is chaplaincy in it’s widest sense.

We offer a huge variety across the School and College within our Chaplaincy Team. You can find out more about this in the information below.

‘God is love and he who lives in love lives in God, and God lives in him.’ (I John 4:16)

Year 7 Focus Days

Each Year 7 form have a special chaplaincy Focus Day when they join Cardinal Newman. This is a day of fun, games, sharing and reflection.

At Cardinal Newman Catholic School, we believe that God is at the heart and centre of everything we do. Our aim is for every member of our community to grow in their relationship with God during their time with us. We want every individual to know that they are loved and valued and bring unique gifts and talents which we aim to grow and nurture.

Our chaplaincy team, of which we believe every member of staff plays an important role,  aims to support the educational, emotional, physical and spiritual wellbeing of our students. With the help of our fantastic team of Student Chaplaincy Ambassadors,  we help to support the spiritual and pastoral aspects of the school by providing teachers, pastoral leaders, tutors and students with daily and weekly acts of worship, liturgies, assemblies and masses, which follow the various feasts and seasons of the church. Prayer is an essential part in our worship and we meet regularly to pray for the individual and collective needs of our students, staff and school families. If you would like us to pray for you or your loved ones then please let us know on our prayfor@cncs.co.uk email address. Members of the chaplaincy team and our staff meet every week and will add your requests to our prayer list and join our prayers with yours.

Our  Chaplaincy Team organises and runs various retreats, prayer and opportunities to develop faith, spirituality and our encounter with the person of Jesus Christ. We aim to be a school which responds to the needs of others through social action and we do this by supporting and raising awareness of our school charity/caritas projects and events that happen throughout the year. An important  part of our chaplaincy vision is to develop links with local parishes and primary schools. We have a wonderful group of deanery priests and schools and work closely with them in growing our catholic mission.

As part of the wider chaplaincy, we also work closely with various organisations and charities in our local area. These include ‘Off the Fence’, ‘City Mission’ and the HTB Network.

Our Chaplaincy Team aims to provide a safe space for members of our school community if they need to talk, share or need some quiet time.
