Prayer & Collective Worship

From Year 7 to Year 13, students are invited to engage with their faith daily and play an active part in collective worship, through a combination of daily prayer, form worship, assemblies and whole class Mass, as well as liturgies and reconciliation at key times of the liturgical year. Students help to prepare and lead the Mass and liturgies, through altar serving, reading, singing or playing in the worship band.

Following our most recent Advent Service, one parent wrote:

“I was deeply moved by the service, amazed by your chaplain and music department, and very  grateful that my daughter has been given the same opportunity that her mother was over 30  years ago, that being a member of the Cardinal Newman family.”

Another key part of school  life is putting students’ and teachers’ faith into action through Service and the Common Good; whether this is through our links with Citizens UK, the various student leadership opportunities in the school and college, our Caritas Coins  rewards system and fundraising, student leadership with our Chaplaincy team or links with our Parish communities.

Newman Prayer - “The Mission of My Life”
by St John Henry Newman

God has created me to do Him some definite service;

He has committed some work to me

which He has not committed to another.

I have my mission-

I may never know it in this life, but I shall be told it in the next.

I am a link in a chain, a bond of connections between persons.

He has not created me for naught.

I shall do good; I shall do His work.
