Uniform and Equipment

At Cardinal Newman Catholic School, we have a uniform that is practical and affordable.

School uniform is compulsory for Years 7-11. CNCS has an excellent reputation for behaviour and by wearing the uniform correctly and conducting themselves well in public, students can continue to contribute positively to that reputation.

Mobile Devices and Yondr Pouches

We believe that phones have great utility but we have also found that learning and social behaviour improve drastically when students are fully engaged with their teachers and classmates.

The Yondr system utilises a simple, secure pouch that stores a phone. If students choose to bring a phone into school, they will secure their phone in their own Yondr pouch when they arrive. Students will maintain possession of their phones and will not use them until their pouches are opened at the end of the school day. Students are required to bring their Yondr pouch to and from school each day and are responsible for their pouch at all times.

The Yondr system will operate in Year 7 -11 inclusive. In addition, from Sept 2026 Year 7 students will not be allowed to bring a smart phone to school at all (whether in a Yondr pouch or not). The only phones allowed for Year 7 students are non-smart ‘brick’ phones which only have call and text capabilities and no social media or open web browsers.

Lost Property

Students are responsible for their own property including any valuables they choose to bring into school. As students can sometimes be forgetful, we recommend writing your child’s name and form on the labels of their uniform, PE kit and school bag so we can reunite them with their lost items as quickly as possible.

Lost property is located in the welfare office in the new medical centre building/main toilets.

Please be aware that if any unnamed uniform is not reclaimed within a term we will recycle within school and in partnership with Smarter Uniforms.
