On Thursday 2 February, Ted Chapman, Louie Bridgeman-Rivett, Isaac Matthews and Rocco Di Rienzo represented Newman college in our first inter college bridge match. The game took place against Haberdashers' Aske's Boys' School,
the current holders of the English Bridge Youth League cup.
There were 45 pairs competing and our teams were placed 42nd and 11th, the latter team being placed higher than pairs from Eton and Westminster. It's a fantastic achievement for their first inter college game
Mr Sparrow who runs bridge club explained I'm really pleased that we had our first competitive bridge team at Newman College, I'm really proud of their success and look forward to this being the first of many!'
Bridge club is still running every Wednesday from 2-4 pm in NF4 and any other Sixth Formers who would like to learn and maybe compete are welcome to come along!
