Lent lasts for 40 days to reflect the time that Jesus spent in the wilderness fasting and praying in order to prepare himself for the ministry he was about to begin, and for the challenges and struggles he was to face. Lent is time for self denial and growth. Many people use this time to give something up but it is often more helpful to do something
