We have had a number of Sporting Success stories this term, it's been difficult for us to keep up! Our Newman Sports Teams have faced some challenging weather conditions over the past few months, but their determination has allowed them to keep succeeding and we really are #proudtobenewman...

If you would like to offer support to our Sporting Success, we are hosting our 'Support for Sport' event on Thursday 13 July, 4-6pm. To book your place, you can do so via the link here.

Equestrian

Newman Equestrian Academy has been out representing the school with multiple placings and wins, both as a team and individually. Our most recent wins were from the interschool grassroots qualifying rounds at Gold Cross show centre, picking up both team and individual wins.

Academy students currently studying their British horse society (BHS) stages are approaching their final assessments for the year, which will credit them with a qualification that will help them enter straight into the equestrian industry.

Newman Academy riders without their own horses have been accessing our approved riding centre and working their way through their grading and progressing their skills both in and out the saddle. We currently host training days 2 termly which allow riders to have their riding lessons, followed by a stable management session where they learn what and how to look after and prepare their horses for ridden work.

The Equestrian Academy was recently invited to visit the Moore's Racing Stables. Students had the privilege of meeting with the highly renowned racehorse training duo Jayne and Gary Moore. We feel hugely privileged and proud as a school to have a connection with such a successful equestrian family. Cardinal Newman has in fact had over 8 winning jockeys go through the school. Hayley Moore has a wealth of experience and is known for her support and producing of grooms and young riders and many aspiring jockeys. Academy students will have further opportunities to do work experience and training days.
